A long-established client had seen her professional services practice grow substantially over the years, and she was looking to minimize the tax impact of ever-increasing profits. In talking with her tax professional, it was determined that an enhancement to her retirement plan was in order. Changing from a SEP IRA to a 401(k)/Profit Sharing combination was the optimal choice, and we put the client in contact with a local third party administrator to make sure all the documentation was done correctly. The result enabled our client to contribute nearly twice as much toward her retirement and save on taxes. Collaboration with appropriate professionals shows the importance of knowing when to seek the help of others for the client’s benefit.
